The Beavers were up 20-3 at the half, but were outscored 34-3 in the third quarter.  Down 37-23, the Beavers scored on the final play of the 3rd and Jordan Hein ran one in with :17 left to get with one.  BSU went for 2…and didn’t get it.

Gunner Olszewski had 8 tackles and an interception, while Kameel Al-Khouri also had 8 tackles.  Damon Benham had a pick and the Beavers forced a fumble.

Bemidji State is 3-1 and they begin NSIC North play on Saturday, traveling to Bismark to face U-Mary at 1pm.

The Jacks couldn’t get it going Friday, turning the ball over three times and being held to 90 yards of offense.  The Sabres scored one TD each in the first, third and fourth quarters.  The defense was on the field much of the night and the Jacks split quarterback duties between senior starter Jonah Muller and sophomore Jake Beberg.

The Lumberjacks are 1-3 and it won’t get any easier this week, as they have a Saturday afternoon game with the #7 ranked Alexandria Cardinals in Alex.  Gametime is 2pm…Lumberjacks Live will be on the air at 1.

The Jacks were down 2-1 at halftime, the only time all year they had been behind, except for the final minute against Moorhead.  They responded by scoring three unanswered goals in the 2nd half.

Jacks outshot Brainerd 8-6…Adam Laakso was 4 of 6 in net.

The Jacks are now 10-1 and will be back in action Thursday at 4pm in Crookston against the Pirates.

Bemidji  2, Brainerd  1 (Double Overtime)

Both teams scored in the first half, and neither team scored in the second.  But Annah Schussman scored in overtime to give the Lumberjacks the victory.  Lydia Bitter got Bemidji’s first goal with 12 seconds left in the first half.  Laura Bieberdorf was very strong in goal, going 12 of 13 for the win.

The Jacks are now 9-1-1 and will be back at it under the lights Thursday night, hosting Moorhead at Chet Anderson Stadium at 7:15.  You can also hear it on the Lumberjack Radio Network.

The Lumberjack Girls Swimmers were 2nd out of 9 teams at the Bemidji Invitational Saturday at the Bemidji High School pool.

The Lumberjacks are now 2-8 and will be in Brainerd Tuesday night at 7:30.  You’ll hear it on The Lumberjack Radio Network.

The Lumberjack Boys and Girls were at the Milaca Mega Meet on Saturday, one of the nation’s largest High School Cross Country Meets.  The Boys were 11th in the Class 4A race but the Lumberjack Girls did not have a team score with just 4 competing.  Isaac Berg led the boys with a 6th place showing.

The Jacks will be at the Willmar Invitational Saturday at 1pm.

The Beavers are now 5-8 overall, 1-4 in the NSIC.  They’ll be on the road this weekend, traveling to Winona State Friday night at 7pm and at Upper Iowa 3pm Saturday.

Minot State  1, Bemidji State  0 (OT)

Shots were 7-4 in favor of Minot and Anna Fobbe was a strong 6 of 7 in goal for Bemidji.

The Beavers are now 6-2, 4-1 in NSIC play.  They’ll be return to the pitch Saturday, hosting Minnesota-Mankato at 1pm Saturday on Alumni Weekend, and on Sunday, they’ll host Concordia-St. Paul at 1pm in the Cheryl Smith Memorial and Cancer Awareness Match.
