Friday…Bemidji 10, Red Wing 9 (8 inning)
The Jacks found themselves down 7-0 going into the 6th inning and it looked like a disappointing day. But Bemidji scored 5 in the 6th, then after giving up a run in the bottom of the 6th, scored 3 in the 7th to tie, forcing extra innings. Bemidji got the game winner in the top of the 8th when they loaded the bases on two walks and Matt Fitzgerald single followed by consecutive errors in the outfield which made it 10=8. The Wingers got one back in the bottom of the 8th to make it a one run final. A key hit in the 5 run 6th was Brendan Kuechenmeister’s 3 RBI double. Jared Young got the win in relief.
Saturday…Bemidji 6, Maple Grove 4
The Jacks 1st foray into US Bank Stadium was a successful one as Bemidji knocked off the #4 team in Class 4A. George Loxtercamp got his first start and win of the year, going 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits. He walked 4 and struck out 1. Otto Grimm went the final 2 innings for the save. At the plate, Jared Young doubled, Caleb Carlson went 2 for 4 and scored 2, while Grimm went 1 for 3 and scored 2 runs.
The Lumberjacks are off to a 3-0 start and will be back at BSU Ballpark Thursday when the 15th ranked Jacks host Alexandria at 4:30. You’ll hear it on the Lumberjack Radio Network (KBUN-FM 104.5 & kbunsportsradio.com) with Lumberjacks Live on the air at 4:15.
Friday…Bemidji State 8, Concordia-St. Paul 3
Another win for Jess Yost as she went the distance allowing 3 runs on 11 hits. She didn’t walk anyone and had 11 strikeouts. Meanwhile, Jess Burlingame had a grand slam homer and drove in 5 on the day. Brooke Phillips went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI. Alex Ripka went 2 for 4.
Friday…Bemidji State 4, Concordia-St. Paul 3
The Beavers were down 3-0 and scored 1 in the 6th and 3 in the 7th for the win. Kelsey McAllister and Makayla Pagel each doubled, while Alex Ripka homered. Jess Yost picked up the win in relief, going 3 scoreless innings.
Saturday…#14 MN-Mankato 14, Bemidji State 1
Jess Burlingame went 2 for 3 with a triple and team’s only RBI.
Saturday…#14 MN-Mankato 3, Bemidji State 2
The Beavers fell behind 3-0 but scored 2 in 5th to it within a run, but that’s the way it would stay. Alayna Krejci doubled and drove in the two Beaver runs. Jess Yost took the loss and is now 17-4. She allowed 3 runs (2 earned) on just 5 hits, walked 1 and struck out 8.
The Beavers are 20-13 on the year and 10-8 in NSIC play. After 10 straight at home, the Beavers are on the road tomorrow at Minot State for 2, then have a pair of exhibitions Thursday at Mayville State.
Friday…Bemidji State 8, Wayne State 2
A 5 run 5th was the big inning for the Beavers. Collin Eckman went 2 for 3 with a Homerun and 2 RBI. He also scored twice. Gunner Olszewski went 2 for 4 with a pair of doubles and scored 2 runs. Mason Bellew went 2 for 4 and Ben Boser had 2 RBI. Logan Reidel homered and drove in 3. Ryan Fransen was stellar on the mound, going the distance, allowing 2 runs (only 1 earned), on 7 hits. He walked 1 and struck out 6.
Friday…Wayne State 13, Bemidji State 7
The Beavers were down 5-0 when they scored 6 in the 3rd to take the lead. But Wayne put up 7 in the 5th to retake control of the game. Gunner Olszewski went 2 for 2 with a double and scored 2 runs. The double was the Beavers only extra base hit of the game.
Saturday…Wayne State 4, Bemidji State 2
Scott Litchy went 2 for 3 and Gunner Olsweski doubled. Connor McNallan went the distance and took the loss, allowing 4 runs (3 earned) on 6 hits, with 3 walks and 7 strikeouts.
Saturday…Wayne State 10, Bemidji State 2
Ben Boser went 3 for 4 as did Ryan Rumpca. Rumpca doubled .
The Beavers are 12-22 on the year, 9-13 in the NSIC. They host Minot in a doubleheader Wednesday at 2 and 4pm.
BEAVER MENS GOLF
Bemidji State took 6th at the NSIC Championships with Aaron Leintz taking 13th individually. Meanwhile, sophomore Ben Skaar. It’s presented to annually to the student-athlete with the highest grade point average participating in each of the conference’s 18 championship events. Skaar was the men’s golf honoree. He carries a 4.0 GPA in Sports Management.
