LUMBERJACK BOYS GOLF
The Lumberjack Boys Golfers were 21 strokes better in Friday’s 2nd round of the Pequot Lakes Invite at Cragun’s than they were Thursday. The Jacks fired 314 Friday (down from 335 Thursday), to move up to a 6th place finish out of 20 teams. Leo Spry led the Jacks with a two day 80-76-156. That was good for 7th overall. The Jacks will be back in the Brainerd Lakes area for the Section Pre-Tourney at The Preserve a week from Thursday (May 4).
Friday…Bemidji 12, Park Center 2 (5 innings)
Another powerful performance by Grace Naig on the mound as the Jacks dominated Park Center. Grace pitched a one hitter with just one walk and four strikeouts. The Jacks were up 7-2 after one and added another 5 runs to win early. Madi Schultz and Evette Morgan each had 3 hits, while both Makenna Quinn and Elli Hanson had 2 RBI doubles.
Saturday…Champlin Park 13, Bemidji 3 (6 innings)
The Jacks scored in each of the 1st 3 innings, but Champlin got 7 in the 3rd and scored a few more scattered runs before adding 3 in the 6th ending the game due to the 10 run rule. The Jacks gave up several runs due to 7 errors on the day.
The Lumberjacks are 3-3 on the year and will be at International Falls Tuesday at 4:30.

Fargo Davies Relays Friday…
The Lumberjack Boys won 3 of the Relay races…the 4×400 Relay, the 8×200 Relay and the 800 Sprint Relay. The Lumberjack Girls took 2nd in the 800 Sprint Medley. The Lumberjack Track teams will be back at it Tuesday at the Brainerd Quad.
LUMBERJACK GIRLS GOLF
Bemidji took 5th out of 12 teams at the Cardinal Legacy Tournament hosted by Staples-Motley at Cragun’s Legacy course Saturday. Minnewaska was the winner of the event. Abbie Kelm led the Jacks individually with an 84, which was also a 5th place individual finish.
The Jacks will be back in action Monday at the Headwaters Country Club in Park Rapids for the Panther Invitational.
Friday…# 19 MN-Mankato 2, Bemidji State 1
All 3 runs came in the final 3 innings. Mankato went up 1-0 with a run in the 5th, Bemidji State got one in the 6th and the Mavericks got the game winner in the 7th. A hard luck loss for Jack Stigman, who went the distance and allowed just 2 runs on 4 hits. He walked 2 and struck out 4. Ben Boser went 2 for 4 and Gunner Olszewski went 2 for 3 with the lone RBI.
Friday…#19 MN-Mankato 11, Bemidji State 6
The Beavers jumped out to a 4-0 1st inning lead, but the Mavericks scored 8 unanswered over the next several innings. It was a good game for Scott Litchy who went 2 for 4 with a double, triple and 4 RBI.
Saturday…#19 MN-Mankato 7, Bemidji State 6
The Beavers held a 6-5 lead going into the 7th, but gave up 2 homers in the 7th costing them the victory. Ben Boser went 2 for 3 with a double, while Scott Litchy went 2 for 3 with 2 doubles, an RBI and 2 runs scored. Gunner Olszewski was 2 for 3 and Collin Eckman drove in 2. Kai Haake also had a pair of doubles.
Saturday…#19 MN-Mankato 4, Bemidji State 3
The Beavers went up 2-0 with single runs in the 1st and 2nd, while the Mavericks tied it up with 2 in the top of the 3rd. It stayed that way until the 9th, when the Mavs added 2 more. The Beavers got one back in the bottom of the 9th but that was as close as they got. Ryan Rumpca went 2 for 4 with a double. Gunner Olszewski doubled and drove in a run and Collin Eckman went 3 for 4 with an RBI. Good pitching for Bemidji State. Ryan Fransen started. He went 7 innings and allowes 2 runs on 12 hits. He didn’t walk anyone and struck out 5. Alec Meyer pitched well but took the loss, going 1 1/3 innings and allowing a run on a hit. He didn’t walk anyone and struck out 4. Will Thurston gave up the final run and got the last 2 outs.
Bemidji State is 13-27 on the year, and 10-18 in conference play. They’ll be in Bismarck to face U-Mary Wednesday at 1 and 3pm.
Saturday…Bemidji State 3, Wayne State 1
The Beavers put up 3 runs in the 6th and that was the difference. Brooke Phillips went 2 for 3, while Alayna Krejci went 2 for 3 with a double and 2 RBI. Makayla Pagel also went 2 for 3 and Jess Yost drove in the 3rd Beaver run. Yost also went the distance on the mound, giving up 1 run on 3 hits. She walked 1 and struck out 7.
Saturday…Bemidji State 5, Wayne State 1
The Beavers scored 2 in the 1st and 3 in the 6th. Jess Yost went 2 for 3 and pitched the first 4 innings for the win, allowing no runs on 3 hits. She didn’t walk anyone and struck out 6. Yost is now 19-5 on the year. Kelsey McAllister went the final 3 innings for her first save of the year.
SUNDAY’S DOUBLEHEADER WITH AUGUSTANA CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER
The Beavers are 22-15, 12-10 in NSIC play. They are back in action Wednesday at UMD for a doubleheader at 2 and 4pm.
BEAVER WOMENS TENNIS
Winona State 5, Bemidji State 2
The Beavers won a pair of doubles matches but that was it. They didn’t finish the final 2 singles matches with the result already decided.
Bemidji State finished the year 12-6. It was the most single season wins in program history.
