The Jacks outshot the Pirates 16-0 and were up 8-0 at the half. Isabel Morin had 2 goals. Anna Schussman had a goal and an assist, while Kelly Christopher had a goal and 2 assists. Lindsey Hildenbrand had 2 goals and an assist. And with 2 assists each were Destiny Christofferson, Elizabeth Corradi and Alexis Paquette.
The Jacks are now 4-1 and will host Moorhead Saturday afternoon as part of a Lumberjack soccer doubleheader Saturday at the Middle School. You’ll hear it on the LJRN beginning with Lumberjacks Live at 12:45 on KBUN-FM 104.5 and kbunsportsradio.com.

The #5 ranked AA team in the state improved to 6-0 shutting out the Lumberjacks and outshooting them 9-5. The Greyhounds frustrated the Jacks attack all night. The Jacks had scored an average of 8 goals in each of their 1st 4 games. They were shutout twice all of last year, both by the Moorhead Spuds, whom the Jacks will face Saturday.
Bemidji is 4-1 and will open up Saturday’s doubleheader at 1pm. Again, you’ll hear both games on the LJRN.
LUMBERJACK BOYS & GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Sadie Hamrin led the field again as she claimed the individual title at the Detroit Lakes Invitational yesterday. The Jacks team took 3rd out of 9, and Gwen Youso took 7th.
The Lumberjack boys took 2nd as a team, with Soren Dybing leading the way with a 3rd place finish. Sam Hodgson took 6th with Nathan Alto 8th and Riley Berg 9th.
Bemidj will run again next Thursday when they are at the Little Falls Invitational.
LUMBERJACK GIRLS TENNIS
Brainerd 4, Bemidji 3
Abbie Kelm cruise as usual, winning 6-0, 6-0. The Jacks got another win in singles at #3 from Savannah Haugen, who won 6-2, 7-5. They also got a win in doubles from Sam Edlund and Taylor Offerdahl. They lost the 1st set 6-3, but bounced back to take the 2nd 7-6 (winning the tie breaker 8-6). They earned the win after an injury withdrawal.
The Jacks fall to 8-2 on the year, and will be back at it Tuesday when they host a quad. Detroit Lakes, East Grand Forks and Staples-Motley will be in town.
The Lumberjacks are #12 in the 1st Class 5A poll of the year after their 24-21 come from behind win over Rogers Friday night. Tonight, the Jacks have their 1st road game of the year at Big Lake. The Hornets were Section 6-4A runnersup last year, winning 5 in a row to make it to the Section Final. Bemidji State looks to shake off a disappointing season opening loss at Winona tomorrow when they host Concordia-St. Paul in the annual Shrine game at 4pm. It’s a full day for Beaver fans, beginning with the parade at 1:30 followed by the tailgate party at Diamond Point, then it’s gametime. Concordia-St. Paul comes in 1-0 after a 24-0 win over Minot State last Thursday.
The 1-3 Bemidji State volleyball team is at another non-conference weekend tournament, playing 4 games in Houghton, MI at Michigan Tech’s Keweenaw Classic. They’ll open up today against the host Huskies at 1:30. They’ll face Wisconsin-Parkside at 5:30. On Saturday, they face Lake Superior State at 11am, and wrap up the weekend at 5pm against Northern Michigan.
BEAVER WOMENS SOCCER
Bemidji State opened the season with a strong 3-0 at UMC Tuesday. They’re still on the road, in the same neck of the woods as the volleyball team. They’ll battle Michigan Tech at 4pm today in Houghton, then will venture further east where they’ll take on Northern Michigan in Marquette on Sunday.
