Brainerd 47, Bemidji 43
There were 13 touchdowns and 90 points in the game and only 3 punts. Turnovers were key and Bemidji had 3 of them. The Jacks trailed most of the day, but took their only lead with about 5 and a half minutes left. But the Warriors came right back to take the lead. Still, Bemidji got the ball back with more than 2 minutes left, an eternity in this game, but another fumble ended their chance. Warrior QB Sam Miller had 203 yards passing on 12 completions and RB Charlie Geraets had 185 yards rushing. For the Jacks, Jake Beberg went 9 for 11 for 177 yards and 3 TDs, all going to Ryan Bieberdorf who had 167 yards receiving. Beberg had 2 receptions himself, including one from Bieberdorf on a 2 point conversion. Calvin Faust had 2 TDs on the ground. Alec White had the final Jacks TD that game them that brief lead.

The Beavers Gang Green Defense pitched its 1st shutout since 2012, not that they needed it with a strong offensive showing at Crookston as the Beavers maintained ownership of the Hubcap. Jordan Hein went 19 of 33 for 301 yards and 3 TDs and added a 21 yard carry. Blake Holder had 3 catches for 120 yards and 2 TDs, while Christian Lunde had 7 grabs for 119 yards. EJ Olszewski had 3 picks, 1 returned for a TD, and Cole Schmitz returned a fumble for 6 points.
The Beavers are 3-2 on the year and now 1-0 in NSIC North play. They’ll be back at it Saturday at 1, hosting U-Mary in the Lions Vision Awareness game.
LUMBERJACK BOY AND GIRLS SOCCER
BOYS—Bemidji 3, Sartell-St. Stephen 1
It was a scoreless first half, then the Jacks exploded for 3 goals in the 2nd to take a strong 3-0 lead. The Sabres got one back later in the 2nd, but that would be it. Silas Hess had a goal and an assist, as did Ethan Mock. Brock Mikalecek had the Jacks final goal of the day.
GIRLS—#15AA Duluth East 1, Bemidji 0
The Greyhounds scored the only goal of the game in the 2nd half, but Ali Beard did all she could to keep the Jacks in it, going 12 for 13 in goal. The Jacks have yet to beat Duluth East.
The Lumberjack Boys are 10-2-2 and the Lumberjack girls are 8-4. The Jacks Girls’ final home game is set for Thursday night at 7pm at Chet Anderson Stadium hosting Detroit Lakes. They’ll have 2 more on the road after that. The Lumberjack Boys will be back at it tonight at 7pm in East Grand Forks.
FRI…Bemidji State 3, Concordia-St. Paul 0
Emma Brechlin had a big night, scoring the game’s 1st goal and assisting on the next two. Melanie Peltier and Allyson Smith had the Beavers other 2 goals as they outshot Concordia 6-5 and Catherine Arneson went 5 for 5 for the win.
SUN…Bemidji State 0, MN-Mankato 0 (2 OT)
The Beavers still haven’t lost, but their winning streak ended when they couldn’t score on the Mavericks and held on for a 0-0 Double Overtime tie. The Beavers were outshot 24-6 and on goal it was 9-3. Anna Fobbe made the saves for the shutout.
The Beavers are 8-0-1 and have still allowed just 1 goal this year. They’ve outscored their opponents and will be back in action Friday in Aberdeen, SD to battle Northern State at 3pm. They’ll be back home Sunday hosting MN-Moorhead at 1pm.
Bemidji 3, Alexandria 1
The Jacks were led by a strong performance from senior Lexi Wade and took care of the Cardinals 25-20, 24-26, 25-15 and 25-22. Wade led the way with 25 kills and 16 digs. Anna Falldorf had 11 kills and Addie Colligan had 39 assists. Jenna Lewis added 12 digs.
The Jacks are 7-5 and will be back at it tomorrow hosting Thief River Falls at 7:15.
FRI…#17 Augustana 3, Bemidji State 0
The Vikings cruised past the Beavers 25-22, 25-11, 25-16. Sami Leach led the way with 11 assists and Becka Cronin had 12 digs.
SAT…#22 Wayne State 3, Bemidji State 0
The Wildcats cruised 25-15, 25-11, 25-12.
The Beavers fall to 3-12 and are 0-7 in the NSIC. They’ll be back at it tomorrow hosting St. Cloud State in the BSU Gym at 6pm.
LUMBERJACK GIRLS SWIMMING
The Jacks took 2nd out of 8 in their own invitational at the BHS pool Saturday. Alli Howard took 3rd in Diving to start the day. Abby Yartz took the 200 Free. Alyssa Mess was 2nd in the 200 IM and the 100 Breast and Paige Andersen won the 50 Free. The Jacks were runnersup in the 200 and 400 Free Relays.
The Lumberjacks will be back at it Thursday when they host Moorhead at the high school pool.

The Beavers did outscore Syracuse 2-1 in the shootout, but it goes into the books as a tie. Erin Deters went 33 for 33 in goal and the Orange’s Abbey Miller was 30 for 30.
SAT…Bemidji State 5, Syracuse 0
Bailey Wright opened the scoring with a goal :40 into the game. Emma Terres had a goal and an assist, while Lindsey Featherstone also scored a goal. Haley Mack and Jacqueline Kaasa also scored. Shots were 36-26 in favor of the Beavers and Lauren Bench went 26 for 26 as the Beavers got their 2nd straight shutout.
The Beavers are 1-0-1 to start the year and will be back at it Friday and Saturday in Potsdam, NY battling Clarkson.
