Park Rapids 3, Bemidji 0
The Panthers cruised in the 1st 2 games 25-17, 25-13. The Jacks played much better in the 3rd but Park Rapids hung tough 26-24. Lexi Wade led the Jacks with 16 kills and 14 digs, whle Addie Colligan had 27 assists. Jenna Lewis had 11 digs.

The Jacks fall to 8-6 on the year and head to I-94 where they’ll play at the STMA Invite beginning with a 5pm match tonight.

No Sub Section QFs…Bemidji 6, Fergus Falls 1
Abbie Kelm won 6-0, 6-1, whle Laura Palmer won 6-0, 6-0; Savannah Haugen won 6-1, 6-1; and Hannah Nelson won 6-1, 6-3.. Bemidji won two doubles matches with SamEdlund and Taylor Offerdahl winning 6-2, 6-3 and Bethany Chatterton and Aftyn Schmidt winning 6-0, 6-2.

No Sub Section Semis…#2 Bemidji 5, #3 Alexandria 2
Abbie Kelm cruised 6-0, 6-0. Laura Palmer won 2-6, 6-1, 6-0. In 3rd singles, Savannah Haugen won 6-2, 6-4. Denee Barrett won 6-4, 6-3. Sam Edlund and Taylor Offderdahl took 1st singles 7-5, 6-2.

That puts Bemidji into the Section semifinals at Sartell next Friday where they’ll face St. Cloud Tech at noon. Today and tomorrow, the North Sub Section Individual tournament will be held in Grand Forks.

The Bemidji Boys took 1st out of 14 teams at the Perham Invitational with Soren Dybing leading the way, finishing 5th individually. The Lumberjack girls finished 5th and were led by Sadie Hamrin’s 2nd place finish.

The Jacks will wrap up the regular season a week from Tuesday when they host the Bemidji Invitational at Greenwood Golf Course.

Bemidji 2, Detroit Lakes 1 (2 OT)
In the 1st period of extra time, the Lumberjacks got the game winning goal from Harper Toward, who just got back from an injury that kept her out several games. Isabel Morin set her up with a perfect pass. Morin also had an assist on the opening goal, feeding Kinley Prestegard. The Jacks outshot the Lakers 17-7 but most had no chance of going in.

The Jacks improve to 9-4 and will be back in action tomorrow at Rogers. Gametime is 1pm.

Moorhead 105, Bemidji 77
Alli Howard won the Diving competition for the Jacks, while the Jacks took the 200 Free Relay and Abby Yartz won the 100 Back. Bemidji also took the 400 Free Relay.

The Lumberjacks will be at the Cambridge Invitational tomorrow.

The Lumberjack football team will face another high powered offense when they take on the Alexandria Cardinals tonight in Alex. The Jacks are 2-3 and Cardinals are 3-2 on the year. You’ll hear it on the LJRN beginning with Lumberjacks Live at 6pm on KBUN-FM 104.5 and online at kbunsportsradio.com.

Bemidji State is in Potsdam, NY to face Clarkson, the defning national champions. Clarkson is the only team outside the WCHA to ever win the national championship. The Beavers are 1-0-1 and will be in action today and tomorrow at 2pm. Clarkson comes in as the #2 team in the nation.

The 3-2 BSU Football team will be hosting U-Mary in the annual Lions Vision Awareness Game Saturday at 1pm. In addition to the Lions events, the Beavers will honor Dr. Mark Shanfeld and the 10 recipients of the Shanfeld-Jahner Scholarship. A decade ago, Dr. Shanfeld endowed a scholarship in honor of long time Beaver Coach Rich Jahner. As the award states: “The Jahner/Shanfeld scholarship criteria is based on character; awarded to a player who represents the program, university, alumni and community in an exemplary manner. As a loyal member of the BSU coaching staff, Coach Jahner passionately taught life lessons through the sport of football and inspired players to achieve greatness on and off the playing field. This scholarship is awarded annually to a BSU football player who embodies that same passion, loyalty and dedication to the BSU football program.” In addition to honoring Dr. Shanfeld, the 10 scholarship winners will serve as honorary captains. Bemidji State was named as a US Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award winner for posting a team GPA of 3.59. They are among the Top 50 in the nation and 1 of 7 NSIC teams to earn the honor.

The Beavers are 8-0-1 and 6-0-1 in conference play. They’re at Northern State today at 3pm and will face Northern State at the Chet Sunday at 1pm.
