Alexandria 59, Bemidji 42
Alex QB Michael Empting ran for 220 yards and 4 TDs, and threw a TD pass to boot as the Cards vaunted offense lived up to its reputation. The Jacks quickly fell behind 16-0 and had to play catch up most of the night. Jake Beberg had 4 completions on the night…3 of them were TD passes. He also ran one in. Ryan Bieberdorf had 2 TD catches and Calvin Faust had an 86 yard kickoff return for touchdown. Faust also had 8 carries for 112 yards.
The Jacks fall to 2-4 and will wrap up the season with a pair of home game, the 1st being Sartell-St. Stephen on Friday night at 7pm. You’ll hear it on the LJRN. Sartell is 0-6 on the year.
Bemidji State 45, U-Mary 19
Jordan Hein went 16 of 26 for 194 yards and 3 TDs, but it was the ground game that was rolling for the Beavers. Andrew Lackowski had 20 carries for 163 yards, an average of 8.2 yards a carry and scored 2 TDs along with an 8 yard TD reception, while Tahi Nomane had 14 carries for 100 yards, an average of 7.1, and a TD.
The Beavers improved to 4-2 on the year and 2-0 in the NSIC North. Bemidji State takes it on the road next week to face Minot State in the annual Beaver Bash at 1pm.

The Jacks cruised 25-16, 25-4 and were led by Lexi Wade’s 18 kills while Addie Colligan had 29 assists.
#3AAA Champlin Park 2, Bemidji 0
The Jacks lost 25-15, 25-16 but , according to coach Teresa Colligan played well.
Minnetonka 2, Bemidji 0
Minnetonka won 25-22 and 28-26.
Bemidji 2, Chanhassen 1
The Jacks won in 3, taking the first game 25-12, losing the 2nd 28-26 and taking the 3rd 15-9. Lexi Wade had 12 kills and Addie Colligan had 30 assists. Jenna Lewis had 16 digs.
SW Minnesota Christian 2, Bemidji 0
The Jacks fell in 2 straight 25-21, 25-12.
The Jacks are 10-9 on the year and will be back at it tomorrow night in Moorhead against the Spuds. You’ll hear it on the LJRN beginning with Lumberjacks Live at 7pm on KBUN-FM 104.5 and kbunsportsradio.com.
FRI…Upper Iowa 3, Bemidji State 0
The Peacocks won 25-13, 25-20, 25-16. Shelby Haney had 11 assists and Emma Hallmann had 12 digs.
SAT…#14 Winona State 3, Bemidji State 0
The Beavers played tough, but the Warriors were just too strong winning 25-22, 25-19, and 25-14. Emma Hallmann had 14 digs for Bemidji.
The Beavers are now 3-15 on the year and 0-9 in the NSIC. They’l l face #2 Concordia-St. Paul on the road Friday night and will be at Minnesota-Mankato Saturday at 2pm.
LUMBERJACK GIRLS TENNIS
All 4 of the Lumberjack individuals earned a spot in the Section tournament in Sartell this Saturday.
Abbie Kelm was the top seed and cruised through her 1st two matches 6-0, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-1. In the Saturday semifinal, Kelm had to face teammate Laura Palmer and beat her 7-6, 6-0, then went on to win the North title 6-0, 6-0. That puts her in the Section tournament as the north’s #1 seed.
#4 seeded Laura Palmer rolled 6-2, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-1, before losing twice on Saturday. She’ll be the #4 seed from the north.
In doubles, top seeded Sam Edlund and Taylor Offderdahl won 6-1, 6-0, and then won a close one 7-5, 6-7, 6-1. They won their Saturday opener 6-1, 6-1 before falling in the championship 6-1, 6-3. They’ll be the #2 seed from the north.
Senior Denee Barrett and 8th grader Savannah Haugen cruised 6-2, 6-3 and 6-2, 6-2 in their 1st two matches. They lost twice Saturday…7-5, 6-1 and 3-6, 6-4, 6-3. They’ll be the north’s #4 seed.
Friday, the Section Team tournament will be held. The 22-2 Jacks are the #2 seed from the north and will face the #1 seed from the south, St. Cloud Tech in the semifinals. The individual tourney will be Saturday.
LUMBERJACK GIRLS SOCCER
Rogers 2, Bemidji 0
The Royals scored both goals in the 1st half and outshot the Jacks 13-5. Ali Beard was 11 of 13 in goal.
The Jacks are now 9-5 with one regular season game left, tonight at 7pm in Grand Rapids. Seeding comes up today as well, with Opening playoff rounds on Thursday.
FRI…Bemidji State 3, Northern State 0
Raquel Thelen, Rachael Norton and Alanna Mattson all scored for the Beavers. Shots were 14-4 in favor of Bemidji State and another shutout posted by Catherine Arneson as she went 4 for 4.
SUN…Bemidji State 6, MN-Moorhead 1
Allyson Smith had 2 goals and an assist, while Rachael Norton had one of each. Miranda Famestad, Brenna Keeler and Dani Nelson also scored for the Beavers. Bemidji State gave up just 2 shots and only their 2nd goal of the year.
Bemidji State is now 9-0-1 on the year and 7-0-1 in NSIC play. The Beavers will be home Saturday and Sunday for Alumni weekend. Saturday they host Wayne State at 1pm Saturday. 1pm Sunday will be Senior Day and they’ll host Augustana.
LUMBERJACK GIRLS SWIMMING
Bemidji took 2nd out of 6 at the Cambridge Invitational with 5 first placd finishes, and 13 top 5 finishes. Junior Abby Yartz took 1st in the 200 Free and 3rd in the 500 Free. Paige Andersen was 1st in the 50 Free and 3rd in the 100 Free. The 200 Free and 400 Free Relays also took 1st. Senior Alyssa Mess won the 200 IM and was 4th in the 100 Free. Alli Howard took 2nd in the Diving.
The Jacks wil be back in action Saturday at the True Team Sectional at Detroit Lakes.
BEAVER WOMENS HOCKEY
FRI…#2 Clarkson 2, Bemidji State 0
It was scoreless until the 3rd when Clarkson scored twice, once in the 1st 2 minutes and once midway through the final period. Shots were 32-15 in favor of the Golden Knights but Erin Deters went 30 of 32 in goal.
SAT…#2 Clarkson 5, Bemidji State 4
The Beavers scored 3 goals in the final period to get within one but ran out of time, as they scored with 1:25 left and with :04 left. The Beavers got goals from Jacqueline Kaasa, Claire DeGeorge, Haley Mack and Kiki Radke. Mack, DeGeorge and Radke each had a goal and assist.
The Beavers are now 1-2-1 on the year and will host #4 Minnesota at 3:07 Friday and Saturday.
